Autumn

I love the idea of autumn - dry leaves falling, crisp evenings and morning, the sunsets that are spectacular as you drive home.
Hmmmm, in reality, what is it? Heavy rainfall, mud everywhere and cold germs! Isn't sad that as soon as we get home the rain starts falling so that gardening is not an option for even half an hour. Shucks! However, the week-end is here so I am determined to get out and pick the apple crop, no pears again this year so I am going to talk loudly about chopping the tree down - that should frighten it into fruiting next year!

The Ultimate in Ease?

The word wireless is an interesting one isn't it? Essentialy it means a radio to me and as I find it easy to say the wrong words, then setting up a wireless connection for my computer was quite a confusing situation fo ranyone who helped me. They didn't know that a radio connection actually was a wireless conection, but hey - why make life easy?
Three days later I have teased connections into and out of the main pc and now the laptop has received e-mails and logs onto the internet, wonderful! I can now watch television, send e-mails and even play laptop snooker at the same time -
if I wish!!! Is this taking multi-tasking to new heights, or is it a sign that I am now unable to do one thing at a time? So, Tami, yes I will get on with the photos again, the holiday still creeps into my mind for various reasons on a daily basis. Not least of all in the morning while I still take my malaria pills.

What an exciting week-end!

My goodness, the good things roll in all together and this week-end has seen some really good moments. The cricket - well! Saturday was a bit worrying, but today's play has so far, restored the onus to the English side. Sadly the weather has seen fit to stick its oar in, I am sure we could have won on our playing merit rather than face an ignominious draw. However, I have not been a total couch potato you will be glad to hear, I save all my polishing and window cleanng in the sitting room for one test match a year, then I find that these domestic chores are an unnoticeable event, even the ironing gets done without raising my blood pressure! The television rotates easily and follows me around the room so I don't miss any of the action. Go England!
Then last night was also the Last Night of the Proms, and wow wasn't that counter tenor fantastic! I don't normally enjoy too much of the male solo voice, except for one special person in the 70's and 80's, but this man last night was incredible. As was the link up for the fanfares with all the other parts of the UK who were taking part. Seriously good!
Just before that came the highlight of the week-end and if I am honest - even allowing for the Himalayas, of the year. I glanced out of the window to the darkening skies in the garden to see some bats fly out of the fascia boards on the porch, it was time to catch their supper. Their flight patterns are so lovely to watch in the evenings. This is so exciting; they have stayed away for several years and I am thrilled to have them back. Now I wonder if I can adapt their diet to eating flying slugs? I would willingly collect them during the day and throw them around for an evening snack for the bats.

That sinking feeling...

Lynne used this title in her blog and now I have to agree that I am at the same stage! School starts tomorrow and I really want to hide under the duvet instead of getting up and going to work. PLEEEEESE!!
However, I have two wonderful Teaching Assistants who will be working with me at times in the class, so we can enjoy the work together. Jill and I agreed that we would make our class the happiest and the best in the school, so wish us luck. We also felt that frequent meetings would be needed and as there is no time in the school day, they would have to be in teh evening and we might get thirsty whilst talking! Good idea?

It does not seem right...

to post my holiday pictures without even mentioning the awful disasters that have happened recently. The Iraqis who died in the engendered panic whilst following their religious practices and the American sufferers in the southern states. The world seems to be very hard on some people and my thoughts are with them, even though as I write it I realise it is a platititude. The word helpless comes to mind in this situtaion - for the victims and those of us on the sidelines.
